Letter from NGOs to Negotiators in Havana: The UN office for Human Rights in Colombia must remain

In a letter sent to the delegations of the Colombian Government and the FARC -EP, organizations insist on the need to include into the agreements the permanence of Office of the United Nations High Commissioner in Colombia.

The undersigned organisations would like to recognize the efforts that you have made in the last several years in order to achieve the progress and agreements reached to date. We know that these are complex discussions and the agreements already reached demonstrate the determination that you all possess to sign a final accord as soon as possible, in order to permit all Colombian citizens to have hope for to the constructions of a country in peace.

Oidhaco activities related to Peace in Colombia

The OIDHACO network of European organisations held its assembly on 23 and 24 September 2015 and at the same time organised several activities related to the role of European countries in peacebuilding in Colombia.

Participating in the assembly were Colombian citizens representing different coordination groups of organisations working on development, democracy and human rights, as well as representatives from communities in Colombia. These people highlighted the following elements related to peace:

Their support for and the importance of the peace process taking place in Havana between the Government of Colombia and the FARC guerrilla
The need to begin formal talks with the ELN in order to bring an end to the armed conflict in Colombia

EUROLAT Assembly must support civil society peacebuilding

Oidhaco and CCEEUU ask the EUROLAT Assembly to support civil society peacebuilding

During the session of the EUROLAT Assembly in Panama City, from 16 to 19 March 2015, Oidhaco and CCEEUU presented several considerations and recommendations regarding the support of the regional parliaments for civil society initiatives, in particular for the work of Colombian human rights defenders in peacebuilding

The International Office on Human Rights Action Colombia (Oidhaco) supports the request made by MEPs for formal dialogue between Colombian government and ELN

Brussels, March 30, 2015. The European Network International Office on Human Rights Action Colombia (Oidhaco) supports the following request made by MEPs; “the Colombian government and the ELN must begin formal negotiations; otherwise, Colombia will not be on the way to the end of armed conflict and will continue to suffer the effects of the war with its high number of victims”, said Christiane Schwarz – Chair of the Board of this network of European organisations.
