Attacks against human rights defenders in Colombia continue to increase. Between January and September 2012 there were 235 individual attacks against human defenders (including 37 killings and 3 disappearances). In the first half of 2012 the numbers of attacks represented an increase of 12% over the same period last year, while in 2011 there had been an increase of 36% of attacks compared to 2010.
